Admission Requirements

Admission is decided on a competitive basis. To be eligible for admission, you must have the following qualifications:

  • a bachelor's degree from a recognized tertiary institution or an equivalent qualification;
  • preferably one or more years of work experience in a professional communication area (e.g., news media, advertising, public relations, corporate and public information, marketing communication, web or multimedia production, etc.).

Applicants whose bachelor's education was not based on English as the medium of instruction should also fulfill the following minimum English proficiency requirement:

  • a TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based test) or 213 (computer-based test) or 79 (internet-based test);
  • an overall band score of 6 in International English Language Testing System (IELTS);
  • a pass (2004 or earlier) or 450 (2005 or later) in the Chinese mainland's College English Test (CET6);
  • other equivalent qualifications (e.g., a pass of TEM8)

The program is now open for both local and overseas applicants. Required by Hong Kong Immigration Office, all overseas students must enroll in the full-time study mode (i.e., taking 12 or more credits per semester) and obtain a student visa before coming to Hong Kong. Please visit the Chow Yei Ching School of Graduate Studies to find more information about application procedure for non-local students or the Student Residence Office to find information about housing and other aspects of campus life.
