Exercises

Data Collection (updated): participate in a lab experiment at the Departmental D-Studio in the InnoCentre to obtain first-hand experience on how to design, implement and analyze experiment data for communication research.

  1. Each student signs up a time slot for the experiment in tutorial 8 (12 or 13 March), which will be confirmed by email or in class/tutorial;
  2. Each student goes to the Eye-tracking Lab in the InnoCentre on the designated time slot (between 16 and 20 March), to participate in a 15-minute experiment;
  3. Each student carries out statistical analysis of the resulting experiment data in tutorial 10 (26 or 27 March).

Data Analysis: perform descriptive and explanatory analyses of the data collected from online surveys, to practice analytical skills.

  1. Import online survey data into SPSS.
  2. Obtain descriptive statistics of the sample demographic profile.
  3. Obtain descriptive statistics of the main dependent variables.
  4. Compare the similarities/differences in the main dependent variables between/among key independent variables.
