In Hong Kong, the two major departments that deal with IP protection are the Customs and Excise Department and the Intellectual Property Department. The former protects IP rights by enforcement of the Copyright Ordinance, the Trade Descriptions Ordinance and the Prevention of Copyright Piracy Ordinance. The latter advises the government on policies and legislation to protect IP in HK; promotes IP protection through public education; etc.
